When is city hall open?
Our normal business hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM through 2:00 PM, Fridays 9:00 AM through Noon. If you contact us outside of our regular hours, please leave us a message or email our city clerk Jodi LaCroix at jplacroix@lakesitetn.gov and we will get back with you as soon as we can.
In case of an emergency, always call 911. 
How do I get my garbage picked up?
The City of Lakesite contracts out sanitation with Waste Connection. Regular household garbage is picked up every Monday and Thursday. Yard waste and bulk pickup alternate each week according to the posted schedule below. Please follow the guidelines below to allow for a smooth garbage pickup process:

  • Please have your garbage can at the curb by 7:00 a.m.
  • All bagged trash is to be placed inside the can. No trash may be placed on the lid or outside the can.
  • Please do not overload the can as this causes problems for the truck.
  • Place the can within 2 feet of the curb, and on a firm and level surface. Place the receptacle with the front towards the road.
  • Do not place close to mailboxes or other objects. 
  • Bulk/yard waste pickup will remain on alternating Thursdays. Click here for the schedule.
The following items will be accepted during BULK WASTE pickup:

  • Mattresses and box springs
  • dishwasher
  • washer (must be empty of all water)
  • dryer
  • couch
  • recliner
  • area rug
  • sinks that are not porcelain or ceramic
  • If you are unsure if your item(s) will be picked up, please give us a call at 423-842-2533.
The maximum pickup is three (3) items. Water heaters, freezers, refrigerators, toilets, rug-whole house, sinks that are ceramic or porcelain, construction debris, dead animals, paint, hazardous waste, stable matter, or tires are currently not accepted. Please make arrangements with any of the privately owned disposal services in our area to dispose of these items properly. 

YARD WASTE: All yard waste consisting of limbs and branches having a diameter not greater than four (4) inches and a length not greater than four (4) feet must be tied in bundles. The Waste Hauler shall not be obligated to collect any branches or limbs having a diameter greater than four (4) inches or a length greater than four (4) feet.  All yard waste consisting of grass clippings and leaves shall be placed in bags and tied. The Waste Hauler shall not be obligated to collect any yard waste not prepared for in this manner. Yard waste shall not exceed thirty-five (35) pounds. The maximum number of bags shall be 8 per pickup.

RECYCLING is available at the Middle Valley Recycling Center at 1868 Crabtree Rd, Hixson.  The recycling center can be reached at 423-843-9317. 

If your garbage can is missing, most likely the hauler took it because it was damaged beyond use.  Give us a call at 423-842-2533 to request a replacement. 

Broken/missing garbage can?
If your trash can is damaged beyond use or you have received a "yellow tag" from the hauler, please call Jodi LaCroix at 423-842-2533 or e-mail her at jplacroix@lakesitetn.gov. Jodi will put you on the list for a replacement can.  Our Public Works director Dave Tate will bring one out to you.  Be sure that the old can is completely empty and place it at the curb so our team can switch it out with a new one.
Where can I recycle?

We have two county operated recycling centers in the area:
Sequoyah Access Road Recycling Center - please call 423-842-2391 for their hours and a list of accepted items
Middle Valley Recycling Center - please call 423-843-9317 for their hours and a list of accepted items

Auto parts stores usually accept old motor oil, transmission fluids, antifreeze and some may accept old tires. Please call your nearest auto parts store to inquire about this option.

Who do I call if my neighbor's tree falls on my fence?
We cannot intervene in disputes between neighbors. We can address code violations only (overgrown grass, loose dogs, abandoned cars, etc.). 

My neighbor has an object blocking/partially blocking the roadway.

If you have asked your neighbor to move the object and he/she has not done so, you may call the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Non-emergency line at 423-622-0022.

Dirt bikes are going up and down my street, upsetting the kids and making the dogs bark. 

If you have asked that they stop (or in the case of a minor) spoke to the parents and the problem has not been resolved, you may call the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Non-emergency line at 423-622-0022..

My neighbor's grass is so high that rodents are showing up.

My neighbor has junk vehicles/trash in the yard.  It is a blight.

How do I find out about the Lakesite Community Pool?
The Lakesite Community Pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day every summer. The pool can be reserved for private pool parties outside of regular pool hours and subject to lifeguard availability and a reservation fee. 

Season passes and day passes are available for purchase at city hall. Season pass sales begin in early May of every year.

Where can I find a copy of my Deed or Plat Map?
Copies of your deed and property plat maps are available at the Hamilton County Register of Deeds office.  They are located at 625 Georgia Ave., Room 400, Chattanooga.  Their website is: http://register.hamiltontn.gov/OnlineRecordSearch/Home/Welcome.aspx

How do I report a police matter?
In case of an emergency, always call 911.

For non-emergencies, please call the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office at 423-622-0022. 

Don't wait and call City Hall to report a problem or possible crime.  City hall staff cannot assist you in an emergency or take a police report. All police related matters need to be reported to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. 
How do I contact Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department?
In case of an emergency, always call 911.

For non-emergencies, you may call the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department at 423-842-9370 or visit their website at https://www.dallasbayfd.com/.

Don't wait and call City Hall to report a problem or possible fire.  City hall staff cannot assist you in an emergency or take a fire report. All fire related matters need to be reported to the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department.

If you hit a deer or other wildlife, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), Region 3 should be called.  Their telephone number is 1-800-262-6704.  To connect directly to their website, click TWRA Region 3.
Who do I call for dead animal or wildlife removal?

You have several options available to you.  If you have wildlife trapped in your home, such as a squirrel or mice, please contact any of the privately operated wildlife removal services in our area.  These providers will usually also pick up deceased animals.  

McKamey Animal Center can help point you in the right direction. Please call them at 423-305-6509 or after hours 423-305-6511 and press 1.  

If you encounter dead wildlife in the public right-of-way, please give us a call at 423-842-2533.

How do I report a loose pet/barking dog?
McKamey Animal Center is the city's animal services provider. If you wish to file a complaint about a dog in the neighborhood,  you may call them directly at 423-305-6509.  If there is an emergency or an evening notification that needs to be made, you can call McKamey via their emergency line at 423-305-6511 and press 1.

Where do I apply for a dog license?

All dogs must be licensed through the McKamey Animal Center.  More information is available on their website at https://mckameyanimalcenter.org/.

Where do I obtain a burning permit?

Burning permits are issued by the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Board.  You may obtain a permit by calling 423-643-5970. You may also apply for a permit via their website at https://apcb.org/.

No burning is allowed in Hamilton County May 1 through September 30.

How do I report illegal burning activity?
You can report illegal burning activities to the Chattanooga - Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Bureau. You can file a report online at https://apcb.org/filing-a-complaint/ or by phone at 423-643-5970.
How do I find out about voting and elections?
Elections are handled by the Election Commission for Hamilton County.  More information is available on their website at https://elect.hamiltontn.gov/default.aspx.
How do I find out about the General Assembly?
The Tennessee General Assembly maintains their own website at https://www.capitol.tn.gov/.
