MINUTES OF THE REGULAR STATED


MEETING OF THE


LAKESITE CITY COMMISSION


OCTOBER 16, 2007






Mayor Mullin called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Vice Mayor Wilkerson gave the Invocation. Commissioner McPherson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll was called with Mayor Mullin, Vice Mayor Wilkerson, Commissioner McPherson, and City Attorney Elliott present. Commissioner Allis, Commissioner Burkett and City Manager Edwards were absent. Vice Mayor Wilkerson made a motion to pass both the Regular Meeting minutes and the Agenda Workshop minutes of September 18, 2007. Commissioner McPherson seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and motion carried.


Dusty Stokes, Hamilton County Sheriffs Department, gave the report for September including 78 traffic citations. Three citizens thanked the Sheriffs Department for the job they do. Assistant Chief Kevin Shadwick gave the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department report for September which was ten calls to the City.


Joan Kirby asked for better communication concerning pond work near her property.


Bill Freeney said the speed humps on Lakesite Drive are at his driveway and he would like them moved for easier accessibility for his motor home. Mayor Mullin said he would meet with him, but that the City had been advised by TDOT as to the placement of speed humps to give the best results concerning speeders.


Roy Rateliff asked what work was done on the pond and was told seam sealing was done to see if it would stop the leak so a liner would not be needed. He also gave the Commissioners information on feral cats.


Commissioner McPherson reported the City tax rate over the years has stayed low. He said the business district helped our finances and the City has no debts.


Maurice Beavers said he was unhappy with having to pay for a sewer he didn’t want.


Vice Mayor Wilkerson said the Sheriffs Department saturation is still scheduled. He said two extra officers will patrol on Halloween.


Vice Mayor Wilkerson made a motion to pass Ordinance 177, amending Title 10, Animal Control, Chapter 1, Dogs and Cats, to enhance the enforcement provisions for cats and provide a provision for spaying and neutering of impounded dogs and cats. Commissioner McPherson seconded the motion. There were no comments at the public hearing. Roll call vote: all Commissioners voted aye and Ordinance 177 passed on second and final reading.


Vice Mayor Wilkerson made a motion to pass Resolution 75, supporting the construction of a bridge spanning the Tennessee River in North Hamilton County. Commissioner McPherson seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and Resolution 75 passed.


Vice Mayor Wilkerson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner McPherson seconded the motion. Mayor Mullin adjourned the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
