March 18th, 2008 Commission Minutes

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR STATED

MEETING OF THE

LAKESITE CITY COMMISSION

MARCH 18, 2008

Mayor Mullin called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Vice Mayor Wilkerson gave the Invocation. Commissioner McPherson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll was called with Mayor Mullin, Vice Mayor Wilkerson, Commissioner Burkett, Commissioner McPherson, Commissioner Neighbors, City Manager Edwards and City Attorney Elliott present. Mayor Mullin introduced Commissioner Neighbors, who was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Commissioner Allis. Commissioner Neighbors had been sworn in prior to the meeting and will hold office until the November 4, 2008 election. Commissioner McPherson made a motion to accept the minutes of the Agenda Workshop Meeting and the Regular Meeting, both held on February 19, 2008. Vice Mayor Wilkerson seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and motion carried.

There was no Sheriffs Department report. Jack Brellenthin, Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department, reported eighteen calls to Lakesite in February, eight of which were EMS calls.

Val Hargis, Reid Andrews, Joan Kirby and Valerie Boddy asked about progress at the marina and apartment areas. Mayor Mullin said things were at a standstill at this time. Boat slips being built in the slough belong to Harbor Lights Marina. The cabins along Shoreline Drive (now Dockside Drive) are deeded for commercial recreation, which restricts building. The apartment area development would need sewers to proceed as proposed.

Josh and Nate Barrott, Boy Scouts, asked if the City would ever get its own post office and were told that this would not be possible in the foreseeable future.

City Manager Edwards said he would have a travel policy ordinance ready for the April meeting. He also said a budget workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 3:00 p.m.

Larry Jenno, Codes Officer, announced the City wide clean up campaign is scheduled for the month of April.

Commissioner McPherson said the City is still in good financial shape.

Mayor Mullin said that Curt Blair and Commissioner Burkett have been working on drainage issues throughout the City.

Vice Mayor Wilkerson made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner McPherson seconded the motion. Mayor Mullin adjourned the meeting at 8:35 p.m.
