MINUTES OF THE REGULAR STATED
MEETING OF THE
LAKESITE CITY COMMISSION
JULY 15, 2008
Vice Mayor Wilkerson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Vice Mayor Wilkerson gave the Invocation. Commissioner McPherson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll was called with Vice Mayor Wilkerson, Commissioner Burkett, Commissioner McPherson, Commissioner Neighbors, City Manager Edwards and City Attorney Elliott present. Mayor Mullin was absent. Commissioner Burkett made a motion to accept the minutes of the Agenda Workshop Meeting and the Regular Meeting, both held on June 17, 2008. Commissioner Neighbors seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and motion carried.
There was no Sheriffs Department report. Jack Brellentin, Dallas Bay Fire Department, reported twenty-two calls to Lakesite in June. He reported 76 calls since January 1, 2008.
State Representative Jim Cobb reported that there will be a public hearing with TDOT, concerning the toll bridge across the river, on August 21, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the downtown library. He said the new VW plant may help this cause.
David Albury said he needed more time to demolish the OK corral on Daisy Dallas Road after receiving a letter asking him to remove the collapsing building. Attorney Elliott said he needed to meet with the Codes Officer and set a definite time acceptable to Mr. Jenno.
Jeff Eblen asked if the citizens can swear out a complaint and was told they can but they must appear in court and prove their case.
Commissioner Burkett reported Warwickshire Drive had been overlayed and will be watched for six to nine months to see its effectiveness. Buffalo Lane and Prairie Schooner Circle will be the next roads worked on beginning the middle of September. Prep work is being done now to widen some of the road so they will be closer to standard and to rework drains and ditches.
Commissioner Burkett made a motion to pass Resolution 81, extending the moratorium on construction of self-storage facilities within the City until January 31, 2009. City Manager Edwards said the City passed a moratorium several month ago and the Regional Planning Agency is working to conform the Land Use Plan and Zoning Ordinance. The work has not been completed yet and will be in the Zoning Ordinance when it is ready. Commissioner McPherson seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and motion carried.
Commissioner McPherson made a motion to adjourn. Vice Mayor Wilkerson adjourned the meeting at 7:35 p.m.
