MEETING OF THE
LAKESITE CITY COMMISSION
AUGUST 21, 2007
Mayor Mullin called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Vice Mayor Wilkerson gave the Invocation. Commissioner Allis led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll was called with Mayor Mullin, Vice Mayor Wilkerson, Commissioner Allis, Commissioner Burkett, Commissioner McPherson, City Manager Edwards and City Attorney Elliott present. Vice Mayor Wilkerson made a motion to accept the minutes of the Agenda Workshop and Regular meetings held on July 17, 2007. Commissioner Allis seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and motion carried.
Ms. Hillary Lyons was introduced as the new intern to help with different projects for the City.
Dusty Stokes, Hamilton County Sheriffs Department, gave the report for July. He told the residents to call the Sheriffs Department if they would like to be on a watch list while they are gone. They still plan to do a saturation in the area to catch traffic violators. They suggested advising residents of a no parking from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. sign to be placed at the Chimney Hills entrance.
Kevin Shadwick, Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department, reported five calls to Lakesite in June and seven calls in July. There was one house fire on Glengerrie Drive recently and mutual aid assisted.
John Scott asked about the marina area progress and Mayor Mullin said he would check on it and on the status of the submerged boat in the dock area.
Jeff Eblen said he had damage to his car from cats. Larry Jenno, Codes Officer, said MTAS had helped him draft an ordinance to include cats in sections concerning running at large, wearing of tags, seizure and violations and penalties. There will be a first reading at the September meeting.
Commissioner Allis, Parks and Recreation, recommended shelving the Little Chickey project for now as the final recommendation to fix the leak would be to install a full liner at the cost of $250,000. He said that during the dry spell, while the pond is low, he would like to do maintenance work such as clean out brush, trim trees, etc.
Commissioner McPherson, Budget and Finance, said the City finances are in good shape.
Jeff Eblen asked about the City entrance sign. He was told it would not include communications and to be on State right of way, it must be a breakaway sign. It could be temporary and moved to a more permanent site later if properties are developed on the south end of the City. It was suggested putting information about the website on the sign.
Vice Mayor Wilkerson made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Allis seconded the motion. Mayor Mullin adjourned the meeting at 8:05 p.m.
