MINUTES OF THE REGULAR STATED
MEETING OF THE
LAKESITE CITY COMMISSION
APRIL 17, 2007
Mayor Mullin called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Vice Mayor Wilkerson gave the Invocation. Commissioner Allis led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll was called with Mayor Mullin, Vice Mayor Wilkerson, Commissioner Allis, Commissioner Burkett, Commissioner McPherson, City Manager Edwards and City Attorney Elliott present. Commissioner McPherson made a motion to accept the minutes of the March 20, 2007 Agenda Meeting, March 20, 2007 Regular Meeting and April 3, 2007 Budget Workshop Meeting. Vice Mayor Wilkerson seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted yes and all three minutes were approved.
There was no report from the Sheriffs Department. Assistant Chief Shadwick, Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department, said there were five calls to the City in March.
Leroy Beasley thanked the City for the clean up campaign headed up by Codes Officer Jenno and Scout Brett Cross.
Donna Smith, Lakesite Apartments, said some of the residents there were unable to contact anyone in the new marina owners group and that maintenance was hard to get. Mayor Mullin said the new owners were to hire a manager and that mowing had begun there. He said the power to the docks has been shut off because of safety concerns and would need to be brought up to code.
City Manager Edwards reported that he will have the first draft of the 2007-2008 budget at the May meeting.
Commissioner Allis, Parks & Recreation, said plans for the proposed Little Chickey project are under way. He will have proposals at the May meeting.
Vice Mayor Wilkerson, Public Safety, reported speeders on Lyons Lane and Lakesite Drive as well as ATVs on the streets. He said the City will remain in a contract with the Hamilton County Sheriffs Department for the next year. Vice Mayor Wilkerson said Curt Blair will check on the status of the speed ramps, which have been ordered for Lakesite Drive.
Commissioner Burkett, Public Works, said engineers have prepared a 26 month program for the management of road maintenance. Qore Property Sciences did the study and bids proposed for 2007-2009 were received. Commissioner Burkett made a motion authorizing the City Manager to enter into an indefinite quantity-term contract with the Robert Smith Co. for City road maintenance through June 30, 2009. Commissioner McPherson seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and motion carried.
Jeff Eblen asked about the Glengerrie cul de sac repair work and was told it will be done.
Commissioner Allis made a motion to adjourn. Mayor Mullin adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m.
