MINUTES OF THE REGULAR STATED

MEETING OF THE

LAKESITE CITY COMMISSION

APRIL 15, 2008

Mayor Mullin called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. Vice Mayor Wilkerson gave the Invocation. Commissioner McPherson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll was called with Mayor Mullin, Vice Mayor Wilkerson, Commissioner Burkett, Commissioner McPherson, Commissioner Neighbors, and City Attorney Elliott present. City Manager Edwards was absent. Commissioner McPherson made a motion to accept the minutes of the Agenda Workshop Meeting and the Regular Meeting which were both held on March 18, 2008. Commissioner Burkett seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and both minutes were approved.

There was no Sheriffs Department report. Jack Brellenthin, Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department, reported nine calls to Lakesite in March. He explained mutual aid - other fire departments helping each other. He also said the department was funded by some county funds, donations, and grants.

Commissioner Burkett said the road maintenance program was continuing into the 2008-2009 fiscal year. He said that when the bulk of road work was done, emphasis would be placed on drainage and right-of-way issues.

Commissioner McPherson said work is being done on the budget for the next fiscal year and that there would be no tax increase.

Vice Mayor Wilkerson said speeding and running stop signs continue to be a problem. He said funding would be budgeted to potentially do a saturation by the Sheriffs Department to catch offenders.

Vice Mayor Wilkerson made a motion to authorize the City Manager to issue a check for $500 as a donation to the Emergency Medical Services award ceremony as we have done in the past. Commissioner McPherson seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and motion passed.

Vice Mayor Wilkerson made a motion to pass Resolution 79 to extend the time frame for application to TVA for long term land rights for a municipal park on TVA tract XCR-32PT for an additional twelve months from the date of passage. Commissioner Burkett seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and motion carried.

Vice Mayor Wilkerson made a motion to pass Resolution 80 to authorize the Mayor to enter into an Inter-local Agreement with Hamilton County and the Sheriff of Hamilton County for the provision of police services. Commissioner McPherson seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and motion carried.

Vice Mayor Wilkerson made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Burkett seconded the motion. Mayor Mullin adjourned the meeting at 7:35 p.m.
