MINUTES OF THE REGULAR STATED MEETING OF THE LAKESITE CITY COMMISSION FEBRUARY 15, 2011

Mayor Wilkerson called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Commissioner Howell gave the Invocation. Vice Mayor McPherson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll was called with Mayor Wilkerson, Vice Mayor McPherson, Commissioner Boddy, Commissioner Howell, City Manager Edwards and City Attorney Elliott present. Commissioner Burkett was absent. Commissioner Howell made a motion to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting and Agenda Workshop Meeting, both held on January 18, 2011. Vice Mayor McPherson seconded the motion. All Commissioners voted aye and motion carried.

Janice Atkinson, Hamilton County Sheriffs Department, gave the following report for January 2011: traffic citations 23, traffic warnings 40, watch list 3, traffic crashes 7, park and walk 4, thefts 2, burglar alarms 3, with a total of 215 calls for service. Ms Atkinson said that the officers would be concentrating on speeders in the next week or two.

Assistant Chief Brellenthin, Dallas Bay Fire Department, reported for January 2011 the following: rescue/EMS 21, vehicle accident with injuries 2, person in distress 1, heat detector malfunction 1, alarm malfunction 1, for a total of 26 calls.

David DiStefano, G. R. Rush & Co., presented the audit report for June 30, 2010. The results were in compliance and no significant issues were found.

Lisa Blakely, Pineway Trail, said a neighbor has a vegetable garden in his front yard and could a change be made to the ordinances to prohibit it. City Attorney Elliott said that the City only regulates things that involve safety, health, right-of-ways, etc (weeds, junk cars, run down homes). Covenants pertain more to aesthetic issues. Covenants can be revised as long as it states that in the covenants. People have a right to use their homes as they like as long as no one is harmed.

Julia Smith asked for a license for a preschool as schools are allowed in the C1 zoning. She said it would not be a day care which is not allowed. City Attorney Elliott asked the ages she would be teaching (3-5 year olds) and what subjects she would teach. He said if she followed guidelines of a school she could get a business license.

Commissioner Howell said David Tate is getting ready to get the city park and equipment ready for spring use.

Vice Mayor McPherson made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Howell seconded the motion. Mayor Wilkerson adjourned the meeting at 7:50 p.m.
