Phil Burkett

Commissioner Phil Burkett and his wife live on Prairie Schooner Circle. As Commissioner of Public Works, Phil is responsible for maintaining and developing the city’s infrastructure of streets and physical services. He tends to be conservative in his approach to spending the city’s money, and he likes to make sure the city maximizes its limited resources.

The street system is the city’s largest single asset, and Phil is proud of the accomplishments the city has made in maintaining its streets and right-of-ways to a high level for many years. He is also focused on planning and preventive measures to help these investments attain their maximum useful life. His is pursuing a managed approach to preventive maintenance techniques that should yield the highest quality street surfaces for the lowest effective cost.

Lakesite’s street system has developed more through evolutionary processes than from planned expansion, and the topography of the community presents special considerations for drainage and right-of-way upkeep. Phil’s vision is that through effective spending on road surface upkeep, the city will be capable of making steady progress of upgrading and beautification of the right-of-ways.
