City of Lakesite Recognizes the Life of Former Mayor Bob Mullin
Lakesite, TN (April 2, 2024) – The Lakesite community is mourning the passing of the city’s former Mayor, Bob Mullin. Mr. Mullin served on the Lakesite City Commission on and off since 1973. In December of 2004, he accepted the position of Mayor, a role he held until November of 2010.
Mullin successfully accomplished many things for Lakesite and was always pursuing positive changes for his community. He dedicated his efforts to securing funding for home repairs and maintenance for those who couldn’t afford it, to beautifying the city park, playground and pavilion, and he was instrumental in securing a land-lease for a 45-acre tract from TVA for community use.
Mullin retired as a captain from the U.S. Naval Reserve and as a nuclear engineer from TVA after 33 years of service. He dedicated his time to working with the Lakesite Recreation Club and served on the Board of Directors for Carta. He served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department.
"I was heartbroken to hear about the passing of my friend, former Mayor Bob Mullin,” said Lakesite Mayor David Howell. “When I was first elected as a commissioner, Bob Mullin was serving as the mayor on the Lakesite Commission, and not only did he warmly welcome me as his colleague, he also became my mentor. I knew Bob as a great family man. He loved his wife and his children, and he was so very proud of all of them.”
Mayor Howell said that Mullin believed everyone had a place in life and he did anything to guide them in the right direction. Mullin had an incredible passion for giving back to his community and supported so many worthwhile organizations. Howell also stated that the impact and legacy Mullin has left with us is immeasurable.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones while we honor his memory and celebrate the influence his presence made on all our lives," said Mayor Howell.
The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. till 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 4.
Funeral mass will be 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church with Fr. Mike Nolan and Msgr. Al Humbrecht officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
